A simple Information Mesh could be made for books and bringing together all the local entities along with those available on the internet. A majority of schools today create recommended reading lists for their students and may also have implemented scoring programs such as Accelerated Reader or Scholastic Reading Counts programs. These lists usually contain basic information such as title and author and may contain other identifying information such as ISBN13, ISBN10 or quiz number. Parents often want to get involved with their children’s’ reading and help them find books, however, they find it difficult to find books from their local public library that are on their schools’ recommended reading lists.
Figure 1 below shows the books in a recommended reading list from a local school meshed together with the library books at a public library. The books are joined virtually via the ISBN number. The result allows students to find recommended reading books at their local library. There are many identifies used for books such as ISBN, AIN or quiz number which users like a parent or child will typically never use. They are generally going to use book title, author, subject to find a book. They are sometimes looking for something more specific like reading level, quiz points, etc.

This example can be expanded to include recommended reading lists from different classes, grades and schools and also include school libraries, public libraries, local book stores and online book stores. All the individual entities may use different identifiers to identify their books, such as Amazon and their AIN number. Figure 2 below shows the meshing of these different entities.
